- What influenced you to be a DJ? What are your music roots?
My direct influence was just a pure fascination with music and the fact that certain musical pieces can influence your moods or remind you of certain times in your life. I basically grew up on Hip Hop, rock, drum and basscand 80fs pop I suppose! But mainly Hip Hop in my teens. So from there I discovered scratching through a friend and watched lots of videos, practiced a lot at a buddyfs house and was hooked ever since! My new favourite music.
- How would you describe your style of music? What sort of equipment do you normally use for your set?
The music I create now is a very chaotic and electronic version of scratch music. I like to make my set look and sound powerful. The equipment I use is definitely expanding! I use 3 turntables, 2 mixers, a CD turntable and an MPC. Ifm sure therefs room for more stuff soon haha!
- What grabs you, and how is that expressed in your work?
I would say Ifm fairly hard to please when it comes to music. I like to hear and see something interesting, clever and different. So when Iem making music I like to make it interesting, choppy and changing all the time because I get bored easily! As I come from a scratching background, itfs all about breakdowns and changes so I like to use a lot of different noises and tempos.
- What do you think about UK's music scene?
If Ifm honest, I think the UK music scene is weird. Therefs a part of the UK scene that is very closed and hard to please with raw talent, the commercial side, and on the other hand we have some incredible artists but in a fairly underground scene. But Ifm not being bitter, itfs just weird. I love it and I hate it, if that makes sense! But the music scene is growing so much these days, itfs hard to keep up.
- Do you think you will still be DJing after 10 years? Where do you see the Turntablism scene heading?
I would like to think that Ifll still be scratching for as long as possible. The Turntablist scene is growing fast as new styles keep cropping up. I know therefs a little war between the musical djs and battle djs! A lot of complaining about whofs betterc

Doesnft matter though. Scratching is being pushed in different directions because everybody has their own imagination, which is a good thing. Itfs musical skill and raw talent at the end of the day, not a cult with strict rules. So as long as it gets pushed (skillfully not commercially) I think in 10 years itfll be amazing. Technology will help to advance scratch music and itfs just gonna get crazy I think! Haha, I canft wait!
- Which DJs do you respect and why?
There are so many DJs who I respect. I basically respect any DJ who has their own approach and does something skillful. I respect the old school guys for laying down the foundation for the new school to learn from and take further, e.g. X-Ecutioners and Invisible Skratch Piklz, then Allies and Scratch Perverts.

Now they have created monsters around the world like Troublf, Netik, Rafik, Kentaro, Vajra, Woody etcc But I think the DJ who I respect the most would be A-Trak because he has the best combination of scratching, beat-juggling and composition.
- Any interests outside of music?
Apart from music I like spending time with friends, playing computer games, eating sushi, watching movies, chilling in Virginia Water and funny jokes...simple stuff really. Oh yeah and playing badminton (how could I forget?!)...
- What is your message to our readers whofve never listened to Turntable music?
Ok if youfve never listened to scratch music, itfs best to start from the beginning. Itfs not something you will understand straight away. Itfs good to watch old DMC and ITF videos of how it all started and understand how difficult it is to do. But to describe scratch music in a short sentence: Itfs basically placing musical samples from vinyl in an organised way to make music. But just straight up, freestyle scratching is basically manipulating one sample in as many musical patterns as you can. A similar way an MC would freestyle, or a drummer would do a solo...
