Eight Frozen Modules

Interview

- What was the direct influence to give you the idea of making breakcore tunes? What kind of music roots you have?

E: well, I dont think i have ever really made what is considered "breakcore" except for the very first eight frozen modules 12" called daydream nightmare ep in 1996. There was one track which would definitly be considered breakcore. I guess some of the Electronic Music Composer stuff would be considered breakcore, But there are not any breaks really - its all drum machne heavilly processed. I did a sort of breakcore-ish record for Peace Off recently, but it was really just kinda having a laugh with the whole breakcore scene. I guess i get lumped in there because my tunes are really crazy sometimes with lots of editing and dsp.

My roots are everything from The Orb, to Throbbing Gristle to My Bloody valentine to King Tubby. There is dub in everything I do even if it not considered dub.

- Do you have any political policy or emotional concept for your tunes? If you have any particular concept for making Breakcore, please tell us.

E: No, I just make my tracks when the inspiration hits. I dont listen to any breakcore or have any real reason for making music at all really, except that it helps me stay out of trouble and out of the institutions.

- Do you think that is there any relation among situation of world today and Breakcore musicfs rapid growing? Please write your thinking.

E: well, the world is a crazy place. i make my music to excape and get the pressures of the world out of my head and into my ears. I have a cat, who belive it or not, helps me make sounds in my tracks. He loves to sleep and play on my sampler which acts as my midi controler these days. he just dances around and comes up with these fucked up rythms and sounds. I will be crediting him on tracks soon.

- How do you expect the future of Breakcore scene? Do you think you are still composing Breakcore tunes after 10 years later?

E: well I am already not making breakcore tunes really and i think i will continue to not make them.I do asume that it will go on and hopefully get more intricate and crazy. I pretty much just make various forms of techno these days. I own a techno label that goes through Kompakt called Adjunct and this is the vein where the majority of my music lands these days. I love playing music to kids hoped on drugs that dance their asses off and really know how to have a good time at a club.

- Which artists do you respect in Breakcore scene? And why?

E: Ralf Mahoney. because his rythems are so fucking crazy!

- Please write any message to viewers who never listen Breakcore music.

E: I heard Billy Ocean just did a breakcore record and its suposed to be really wild. Check it out!
