K: I work on a freelance basis as a make up artist and I am a tutor for the emake up for fashionf course at Central St. Martins College, London. Ifve been working as a make up artist for about 8 years. I never studied this, it just happened somehow spontaneously. I always had the vision to work in a creative environment but I never thought Ifd eventually be working with make up. My passion for art has brought me to where I am nowc

- Can you tell us a little bit about how you work and what you are currently involved with?

K: I work mainly with the fashion industry, but Ifve also been recently working on films and TV shows.

I do editorials for magazines, commercials, fashion showsc I love doing the fashion shows; I love all the adrenalin and madness buzzing around me. Every show feels like a new adventure.

- What inspired you to work with make up? Can you tell us a bit about the details?

Working with make up allows me to be creative and express myself in the most effective way. I see each person as a piece of art, with face or body being my canvas. Make up is a playground with many colours and different textures, which I personally love to experiment with. Thatfs why I love to work in the fashion fields where make up can be stronger and more experimental.

In beauty artistry, Ifm using make up to enhance already existing beauty, enhancing liked features and minimising disliked features. I believe that the real beauty comes from the inside, and with make up we just give that magic touch to it!

- What would you say are your biggest achievements so far?

K: For me every next step is achievement! In the make up business you have to fight and work hard for your career. It doesnft come easily, Ifm sure all artists would agree with me. Ifm really grateful and proud of all my accomplishments. They could be small for someone else, but for me they are big. I think my best experiences have been working on the bigger fashion shows such as Haute Couture in Paris.

- How would you describe your style as an artist?

K: I like to experiment with different styles and push the boundaries. Experimenting with shapes and finishes. I always want to try something new and challenging.

- Do you have any favourite materials and/or special techniques you enjoy using?

K: I love to mix colours and different textures together. I like the idea of doing make up and playing with unusual textures and materialsc (think of sugar icing or sandc), of course not for everyday make up! I like to use my hands as tools to apply products.

- Who are your favourite designers to work with?

K: Alexander McQueen, John Galliano and I adore Vivienne Westwood! Respect!

- What/who would you say is your strongest source of inspiration?

I rally adore the super stars make up artists Val Garland, Pat McGrath and Toppolino, all of whom Ifve been having the pleasure to work with recently and take tips from them! They rock!
