P: I started it in California when I was living out there... painting DUMP BUSH on freeways and MURDERERS on gun stores… it was fun and I was very aware of the character graffiti of TWIST and REMNISCE and also a skateboarder, so skate art was also a big influence...
- What have you been doing before become Street Artist?
P: I studied fashion and graphics in London and then I went to live in California to get away from Poll Tax Riots and civil unrest in the UK. I was one of the designers for a clothing label called Anarchic Adjustment and I went to a lot of Raves and took a lot of weapons grade Psychedelics… then I made electronic music for about 4 years until I got bored of that so I moved back to London, saw a Banksy show in about 2001 and then got the stencil bug.
- What influenced you to be an artist? What are your art roots?
P: My father is a painter so I was always surrounded by art and artists and that has definitely been a big influence, although I tried not to be an artist for a while, I have accepted my destiny as an artist… its great.
- What grabs you, and how is that expressed in your work?
P: A really pretty girl grabbed me last week, it was really nice…. After I have been with a pretty girl it makes me want to work very hard and be the BEST ARTIST so that more pretty girls will grab me.
- What do you think that London’s Graffiti scene right now ?
P: It fucking RULES ! BUT I would say that West Coast USA graffiti is better… people like Apex and Chor Boogie are KILLING IT in San Francisco right now…. There are a lot of people coming through Londontown but I think everybody has got a bit lazy with getting up on the streets… it needs to step up a bit.
- Please tell me what kind materials do you use? And how to draw (paint)?
P: I use stencils , spray paint, acrylic, marker pen , phosphorous paint and glow in the dark paint , neon and tempera paint...
I usually hold a pen or paintbrush in my hand and I think about things and then my brain controls where I move my hand… its called painting… or sometimes drawing… or taking a line for a walk.
- After solo show : Please give me your impression of the exhibition.
P: It is about the death of religion and how celebrities have become our new Gods… I want to show that this cultural transition is doomed and we are all going to be destroyed by pandas , budgies and bunnymen on horseback with axes , and so we should have our kicks before the whole world ends...
I thought doing a show with an upbeat theme like that would be fun and god was I right, I had a blast. I cannot believe I did the whole show its like a dream.
- Which artist are you most influenced by?
P: My dad… when he has a nap in the afternoon I am not allowed to go to the toilet so I have to pee in the garden. http://www.johnuzzelledwards.co.uk/
- Do you think you will still be Street Artist after 10 years?
Yes.
- How do you want to carry on your work in future?
P: I want to have my own studio factory where workers can make art for me… I can just tell them what to paint.
